Graduate Stipends 2008-2009
We consider all applications and will work to get you into our program with the highest stipend possible.
Fellowship selection is made on a competitive basis and dependent on available funds.
If you do not meet the requirements for the fellowships but feel that you can succeed in our graduate program we encourage you to apply.
The minimum guidelines are listed below. All stipends include a full tuition waiver.
All stipends and fellowships are contingent upon satisfactory progress toward degree requirements and subject to available funding.
Teaching Assistantships (TA)
All students admitted to the graduate program are supported by a teaching assistantship for the duration of their graduate studies contingent upon satisfactory performance. All qualified applicants will receive this stipend if accepted into the program.
- $20,000 stipend
Doctoral Academy Fellowships
- $30,000 total per year
- $20,000 TA stipend per year
- $10,000 fellowship per year for 4 years
Minimum requirements to be considered for Doctoral Academy Fellowships include:
- GPA: 3.5 with a B.S.
- GPA: 3.65 with an M.S.
- GRE: 1100 (V+Q) and 5.0 (Analytical writing)
- Satisfactory letters of recommendation
Distinguished Doctoral Fellowships
These distinguished fellowships are limited and reserved for outstanding academic performance. Deadline for applications for the DDF Fellowships is January 15.
- $40,000 total per year
- $20,000 TA stipend per year
- $20,000 fellowship per year for 4 years
Minimum requirements to be considered for Distinguished Doctoral Fellowships include:
- Satisfactory letters of recommendation
- GPA: 3.65 with a B.S.
- GRE: 1200 (V+Q) and 5.5 (Analytical Writing)
- GPA: 3.8 with an M.S.
- GRE: 1300 (V +Q) and 5.5 (Analytical Writing)
Research Assistantships (RA)
Students are not normally admitted with research assistantships. However, most students will qualify for an RA the end of the first or second semester.
- $20,000 stipend
- $29,000 or $39,000 stipend if supported by a doctoral fellowship
Travel subsidies are available from the Graduate School to allow students to make one presentation per year at a major conference.
