FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - This week more than 300 physical chemists from across the globe are expected to attend a conference to honor University of Arkansas Distinguished Professor of Chemistry Peter Pulay. "Molecular Quantum Mechanics - Analytic Gradients and Beyond: An International Conference in Honor of Professor Peter Pulay," will be held May 29 to June 3 on Margaret Island, Budapest, Hungary.

Pulay holds the Mildred B. Cooper Chair in Bioinformatics Research in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences. Early in his career he developed techniques for determining the shape and size of molecules that would permanently change the way scientists study matter. Today his approach is widely used by theoretical chemists around the world.

Conference papers will be published in the journal Molecular Physics. The conference is being hosted by the Center for Computational Chemistry at the University of Georgia.
