organometallics

Research:

Bio-organometallic Chemistry, Organometallic Chemistry, Organic Synthesis

Our research centers on the study of organotransition metal chemistry and its relationship to important mechanistic problems, synthetic organic chemistry, and theoretical organic interests. Students working in our area of research learn to manipulate of air sensitive compounds, carry out reactions at very low (-110 C) temperatures, and operate high field NMR, FTIR, GCMS, and HPLC instruments. Typically a five to seven step organic synthesis is used to prepare the desired compounds. Some of our work is targeted at compounds and intermediates having potential medical applications in therapeutics.
